"... to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life."

~John Burroughs

I first became interested in photography in grade school when my parents had a Kodak box camera. I was fascinated by the ability of the crude technology at that time. When a freshman in high school, I sent in a cereal box top and $2.25 and received through the mail a little plastic camera that took 16 pictures on 127 film. After seeing the cost of processing, I was able to get a very low cost contact printing darkroom set up. I proceeded in that manner for a while.

Then as a junior in high school, I as able to buy an Ansco Speedex, folding camera which took 12 exposures on 120 film. Using that camera, I became the photographic editor of the high school year book in 1948. While in the Navy in 1951, and in Japan, I bought my first 35 mm Olympus camera for 12,500 Yen, about $35. I then shot some Kodachrome film with ISO rating of 10. Still have the alides, and they are as good now as then. Currently I use nikon Cameras and have almost completely given up film, as it now seems so antiquated.

I have been a CCCC member since about 1990, and am a member of the Venice Camera Club in Florida.
